Da Nang’s Global Spotlight: A Dynamic, Welcoming City Shines on the World Stage

Through international media coverage, the image of Da Nang - a modern, safe, vibrant, and friendly city - is rapidly reaching global audiences. International press not only showcases Da Nang's tourism and cultural richness but also serves as a powerful tool for attracting investment and fostering international partnerships, thereby elevating the city’s brand and position in the global arena.

As the political, economic, and cultural hub of Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, Da Nang has consistently proven its capability by successfully hosting a range of prestigious international events such as the Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF), Danang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF), Southeast Asian Student Sports Games, the Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC), and the Danang International Marathon. These efforts are complemented by scientific, technological, and tourism forums and frequent FAM trips to introduce new tourism products.

A landmark moment came in 2017, when Da Nang hosted the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, welcoming thousands of delegates and over 700 domestic and international journalists. The event projected Da Nang onto the global stage, showcasing its event-hosting capabilities and its deepening integration into the international community. It also helped enhance Vietnam’s cultural image and bolstered Da Nang’s global brand.

During major events like the 2025 Da Nang Forum of Friendship Cities, the 2024 “Meet Da Nang” program, and the 2024 Da Nang Semiconductor Day, the city organized immersive experiences and on-site surveys for foreign journalists. These interactions offered a deeper understanding of the city’s development potential, business environment, progressive policies, and its dynamic spirit.

International media portray Da Nang not only as a top-tier destination for travel and events, but also as a vibrant center for science, technology, and international finance, an emerging magnet for foreign investment. These narratives help reinforce Da Nang’s global message: a city that is dynamic, open, secure, livable, and investment-ready.

International travel publications continue to recognize Da Nang’s allure. In early 2025, Time Out (UK) ranked Da Nang #3 among Asia’s Top 8 Destinations to Visit, citing its stunning natural landscapes, vibrant cuisine, and rich cultural experiences. In late 2023, Condé Nast Traveller (UK) named Da Nang #2 among Asia’s 11 Best Destinations for 2024, making it the only Vietnamese city on the list. In 2022, TripAdvisor placed Da Nang among the “Top Most Loved Destinations in Asia,” while Travel + Leisure (USA) listed it among the “Top 10 Best Cities to Visit in Southeast Asia.” The city also claimed the title of “Asia’s Leading Festival & Event Destination” at the World Travel Awards.

The international press plays a crucial role in disseminating information about Da Nang’s development strategies, key investment projects, and emerging opportunities. According to experts, international investors often rely on insights provided by foreign journalists, who offer objective perspectives, in-depth market analyses, and evaluations of both potential and risks. This transparency helps build trust with global stakeholders.

Mr. Nguyễn Xuân Bình, Director of Da Nang’s Department of Foreign Affairs, noted that the department not only supervises and manages foreign press activity but also serves as a bridge between media organizations and local government. The city actively cultivates long-term partnerships with international media to enhance global visibility and maintain Da Nang’s presence in the global information space.
