Ho Chi Minh City’s Ton Duc Thang Museum Awarded Top National Ranking

On June 20, 2025, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism officially recognized Ton Duc Thang Museum in Ho Chi Minh City as a Grade I National Museum. This is the highest distinction within the Vietnamese museum system, reflecting the institution’s significant contributions to the preservation and promotion of national heritage.

Ton Duc Thang Museum is dedicated to President Ton Duc Thang, Vietnam’s second president and a figure of profound influence in the country’s revolutionary history. Located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, the museum serves as both a cultural landmark and an educational destination. It provides visitors with an in-depth look at Vietnam’s 20th-century history, patriotism, and the enduring values of unity and resilience.

Originally classified as a Grade II museum in 2017, the institution underwent a major renovation between 2021 and 2023. The newly expanded museum now covers more than 8,500 square meters, including modern conservation facilities, permanent and thematic exhibition halls, a multi-purpose cultural space, and a square featuring a statue of President Ton Duc Thang. Designed with sustainability and accessibility in mind, the museum integrates advanced preservation technologies and interactive displays to enhance the visitor experience.

The renovated museum was officially inaugurated on January 3, 2025, and has since become a popular destination for students, researchers, and international travelers. Its recognition as a Grade I National Museum affirms its role as a vital cultural institution and reinforces its mission to preserve Vietnam’s revolutionary legacy.
