The Radiance of Hue Ao Dai Night: A Celebration of Culture and Timeless Elegance

As the sun dipped behind the imperial rooftops of Hue, the historic An Dinh Palace came alive with color, music, and grace during the Hue Ao Dai Night – the enchanting opening act of the 2025 Community Ao Dai Week. A highlight of the Hue Summer Festival and part of the National Tourism Year, this spectacular evening celebrated Vietnam’s cherished traditional dress in all its elegance and evolution.
A Journey Through Time in Fabric
With the theme "The Flow of History and Timeless Beauty," the event featured a dazzling display of Ao Dai collections, from ancient designs to contemporary reinterpretations. Audiences were taken on a visual journey through the cultural essence of Vietnam — with collections representing Northern heritage wear, the five-paneled Ao Ngu Than and regal Nhat Binh from Hue, to the breezy Ao Dai of Southern Vietnam. Each ensemble told a story of tradition, pride, and identity.
Shining on the Runway
The runway glowed with the presence of renowned beauty queens and models, including Phan Thi Mo – Miss Tourism Ambassador International, Kim Phung – Miss Ao Dai Ho Chi Minh City, Tuong Vy – Miss Tourism World, Ngoc Mai – Miss Vietnam’s Beauty with a Purpose, and Ngoc Tran – Miss Tourism Hue. Their grace brought each design to life against the romantic backdrop of the palace.
A Cultural Crossroad of East Asia
The evening was not just about fashion. It was a celebration of shared cultural aesthetics, featuring performances by the Art Troupe of Mile City, Honghe Prefecture (Yunnan, China) and the Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre. The event also showcased a beautiful cultural dialogue between East Asian nations, with traditional attire including Vietnam’s Ao Dai, Japan’s Kimono, Korea’s Hanbok, and China’s Changpao on full display — highlighting the deep connections between neighboring cultures.
What’s Next: A Week of Art, Heritage, and Connection
Following this mesmerizing night, Hue’s 2025 Community Ao Dai Week will continue with 17 major cultural and tourism events across the city. From fashion shows, exhibitions, and seminars to sporting and educational activities, the week aims to honor the Ao Dai, promote local heritage, and bring the spirit of Hue closer to the world.
Key locations include An Dinh Palace, Nghinh Luong Pavilion, Phuoc Tich Ancient Village, the tombs of Truong Thai and Minh Mang, Hue National High School for the Gifted, and many riverside community spaces along the poetic Perfume River.
This week-long celebration is a heartfelt tribute to Vietnamese heritage, uniting art, tradition, and tourism — inviting travelers to fall in love with the soul of Hue, one elegant Ao Dai at a time.
