Vibrant Mong Khen Festival Experiencing Cultural Colors Amid the To Day Blossom Forest
Regarded as the harbinger of spring for the Mong people, the To Day blossom, a wild peach flower, is not only showcasing its beauty among the misty mountains this year but also guiding visitors into a large scale festival season rich in ethnic identity.
As the cold winds of the highlands gradually give way to the gentle warmth of early spring sunshine, the high peaks of Mu Cang Chai and Pung Luong are simultaneously illuminated by the brilliant pink hues of To Day flowers. The People’s Committee of Mu Cang Chai Commune, in coordination with local units and residents, is organizing the Mong Khen Festival, the To Day Flower Festival, and a series of Spring Welcome activities for 2026, inviting visitors from across the country to take part in the celebrations.
The journey to explore this heritage rich land begins with poetic experiences through the Cloud Hunting and To Day Blossom Viewing Journey, running from December 2025 to the end of January 2026. Visitors can wander through vibrant pink blossom forests in Trong Tong, Hang Gang, or around Garrya Mu Cang Chai Resort, then continue to conquer the majestic Lung Cung peak or check in at the Pung Luong Dinosaur Ridge to welcome sunrise amid a sea of drifting clouds.
The allure of the blossom season is further extended through the art photography exhibition Sắc Thắm Hoa Tớ Dày at the Kim Noi Bridge area, where the most breathtaking moments of nature and highland life are preserved.
The festive atmosphere will truly come alive on the night of 31 December 2025 with the lively artistic program Khát Vọng Mùa Xuân, accompanied by a vibrant street parade showcasing the beauty of Thai and Mong ethnic costumes. The highlight of the season will be the opening ceremony of the Mong Khen Festival and the To Day Flower Festival on the evening of 10 January 2026, featuring a mass performance by 500 performers and a spectacular fireworks display lighting up the night sky.
In the days that follow, visitors will immerse themselves in the gentle sounds of the khen calling across the mountains, watch artisans demonstrate traditional beeswax batik techniques, brocade embroidery and weaving, or join the locals in the sticky rice cake pounding contests.
To complete the journey, the OCOP product exhibition area from 09 to 12 January 2026 will be an ideal stop to sample fragrant grain wine, purchase honey, hawthorn fruit, or select finely crafted handmade items as souvenirs. With the message Identity, Safety, and Friendliness, Mu Cang Chai is warmly welcoming travelers to the pink hues of To Day blossoms, inviting them to write an inspiring beginning to the new year in the heart of this heritage landscape.
