Vietnam Continues as the World’s Leading Heritage Destination

Vietnam has once again been honoured as the World’s Leading Heritage Destination at the World Travel Awards (WTA). This marks the sixth time the country has received this title, following previous wins in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

The award was announced at the WTA Grand Final Gala 2025, held in Bahrain on December 6, celebrating destinations and nations with outstanding tourism potential worldwide. Vietnam was recognised for its rich cultural and natural heritage, which continues to leave a strong impression. As experiential travel gains growing popularity, the country stands out with its diverse landscapes and deep cultural identity, attracting large numbers of international visitors.

Beyond the main honour, several Vietnamese destinations were also recognised in specific categories at the World Travel Awards. Moc Chau Plateau in Son La Province was named the World’s Leading Natural Destination for the third time. Tam Dao was voted the World’s Leading City Break Destination for the fourth time. Kem Beach in Phu Quoc was also recognised as a Leading Regional Beach Destination.

Most notably, the Dong Van Karst Plateau was honoured for the first time as the Region’s Leading Cultural Destination, thanks to the outstanding beauty of its UNESCO-recognised Global Geopark and the rich cultural identity of local highland communities.

Vietnam currently holds nine World Natural and Cultural Heritage sites, 15 Intangible Cultural Heritages, and 10 Documentary Heritages, along with numerous national monuments and heritage assets. These distinctions highlight the country’s strong tourism potential on the global map and position it as one of the most attractive destinations for international travellers in 2026.
