Impeccable travel services. Thrilling experiences

Google Prepares to Launch AI-Powered Hotel and Flight Booking

Two weeks after introducing agentic booking for restaurants, event tickets, beauty services and wellness appointments in AI Mode, Google is preparing to bring the same capability to hotel and flight bookings. The move aims to meet growing global demand for travel and simplify the booking process for users.

Although still in the announcement stage, the initiative has already attracted significant attention thanks to Google’s major travel partners. These include Booking.com, Expedia, Marriott International, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Choice Hotels International and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Google is also in discussions with additional travel companies and plans to expand its partnership network before launch. The company’s goal is to support the entire tourism ecosystem and offer users a comprehensive overview of all available options.

Google recently introduced its agentic booking service for restaurant reservations, event tickets and beauty or wellness appointments. The upcoming hotel and flight booking features will follow similar workflows, with booking and payment processes now being refined. While users can already explore travel options in AI Mode, the next step is full booking capability directly inside AI Mode with integrated partner choices. Users will be able to review options, adjust selections and complete bookings, while retaining control over preferred partners based on pricing and policies. Google is also exploring ways to incorporate previously shared user information into the experience in a transparent manner.

Google has expanded the AI-powered Flight Deals tool within Google Flights. Previously available only in the United States, Canada and India, the feature is now rolling out to more than 200 countries and territories, including Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Indonesia, Japan and South Korea, with support for over 60 languages.

In addition, Google has introduced trip planning tools within Google Canvas, allowing users in AI Mode to request recommendations and generate itineraries that can be saved directly into Canvas. This feature is currently available for desktop users in the United States through Google Labs.

Google is not the first major brand to move into AI-driven booking and e-commerce. OpenAI launched its ChatGPT app last month with early travel partners such as Expedia and Booking.com. Perplexity has partnered with SelfBook to offer hotel booking services. Stripe and OpenAI recently introduced Instant Checkout in ChatGPT, and both Visa and Mastercard have unveiled new tools to support AI-enabled commerce.
