Ceremony Of Quan Cong - 29/7/2024
Quan Cong Temple, also known as Trung Han Cung or Ong Pagoda, is located at 24 Tran Phu. Located in the center of Hoi An ancient town, the temple is the place to worship the talented general of the Three Kingdoms period, Quan Van Truong (also known as Quan Vu), along with the Crown Prince Quan Binh, Minister Chau Thuong and 2 horses. Bach Ma, Xich Tho. In the "Daoyuan Ming Bible" it is written: During the Three Kingdoms period, he once volunteered to defeat the Yellow Turban enemy. Meeting Liu Bei and Truong Phi in Trac district, they "took Tao Vien", vowing to live and die together.
The Quan Cong ceremony at Ong Pagoda depends on the period and conditions, can be big or small, but is always maintained, because it carries many deep religious meanings for local people. Everyone understands that here is not worshiping and sacrificing a Han Dynasty Quan Cong, but rather worshiping and sacrificing a Holy Emperor Guan Gong who is loyal to his decency, fiercely majestic, hates evil and deceit, He contributed to helping the country save its people and protect the peace of the people. The image of Quan Cong has been transformed by Hoi An, becoming a very important belief in community life. When people have faith, they will have everything, in which faith in faith also has the effect of maintaining balance in people's guiding actions to reach Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.
In addition to the above main ceremony, every day and on the occasion of the holiday, residents of the city and visitors from everywhere often come to worship and pray for salvation from the above grace. There are many interesting stories passed down by word of mouth about his blessings to each person and family. Especially on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, on the 14th-15th-16th day of the first lunar month (after the Lunar New Year), thousands of people in Hoi An and surrounding areas flock to Quan Cong temple to ask for fortune, wealth, and blessings. They believe that, when offering incense to him on this occasion, they will receive good luck for the whole year and prosperous business. Therefore, on these days, crowds of people line up for two or three hours to take their turn to worship.
