Ho Chi Minh City: Culinary Week Launches the New Cho Lon Night Street
Cho Lon Night Street will begin trial operations on 1 December 2025 and officially open on 1 January 2026. The project aims to showcase the cultural value of the Binh Tay Market area, one of Ho Chi Minh City’s most distinctive architectural heritage sites.
The night street covers a total area of 1,510 square meters across four streets: Nguyen Huu Than, Thap Muoi, Le Tan Ke and Tran Binh. The sidewalk layout has been organized to support both community activity and visitor flow. A 1.5-meter section next to residential buildings is used for self-managed parking. Another 1.5-meter walkway supports pedestrian movement. A 3.5-meter section is arranged for vendor stalls and a 1.5-meter strip near the curb provides access. Tran Binh and Le Tan Ke Streets will primarily serve as parking areas for night street visitors.
Stalls will include food trucks, pushcarts and designated zones for dining, retail and entertainment. Operating hours are expected to run from 18:00 to 24:00 daily.
From 4 to 10 December, the first Southern Vietnam Folk Food and Cake Week will take place in the Binh Tay Market area, featuring 40 booths including 30 food stalls and 10 stalls offering traditional cakes. All utensils used during the event will be environmentally friendly. Examples include palm sheaths for food containers and bamboo cups that can be reused multiple times. This event is positioned as a cultural highlight leading up to the official opening of the night street and introduces visitors to the area’s traditional culinary identity.
On the morning of 29 November, Binh Tay Market will introduce a new visitor product titled Binh Tay Market Tourism Experience. Guests will join a guided shopping and sightseeing program and enjoy performances of the traditional lion and dragon dance. Complimentary tastings of popular Chinese-Vietnamese refreshments will be available, including herbal cooling tea, tortoise jelly, sock-brewed coffee, pia cake and bột linh cake. Visitors can also take part in hands-on craft activities such as painting mini lion heads and creating red envelopes and paper mâché masks.
Beyond food and retail, the night street is designed as a cultural space that promotes the unique identity of Cho Lon and encourages community engagement. It aims to become a gathering point where residents and visitors connect through shared experiences and cultural discovery.
