South Korea and Japan are the Most Popular Autumn Destinations for Vietnamese Travelers

Vietnamese travelers are increasingly searching for East Asian destinations for their autumn trips, according to Agoda’s latest data. Countries like South Korea and Japan are renowned for their stunning fall scenery and pleasant weather. Combined with their short flight distance from Vietnam, these factors explain why Vietnamese tourists are turning their attention to famous cities in both countries for autumn travel. Overall, international searches to South Korea have surged by 55%, while Japan has seen a 24% increase in October and November.

According to Agoda, these two countries have seen a notable rise in interest from Vietnamese travelers compared to the summer months. South Korea remains the top choice, with searches for Seoul up 63% and Busan up 67%. Gyeongju-si recorded a strong growth of 86%, while Incheon increased by 29%. Jeju, however, was the only destination to see a decline, with searches dropping 18% compared to summer.

Japan also continues to be a favored destination among Vietnamese tourists. Tokyo saw a 6% increase in searches, followed by Osaka with a significant 30% rise and Kyoto with an impressive 73% jump. Fukuoka and Nagoya also grew by 28% and 36%, respectively.

Autumn trips to these destinations are highly sought after thanks to their beautiful red foliage, diverse cultural festivals, and comfortable weather—widely considered the best time of year to visit both countries. These numbers also highlight clear travel preferences among Vietnamese tourists: seasonal travel trends, cultural exploration, and destinations with striking natural landscapes. Autumn tourism is becoming more popular than winter trips among Vietnamese travelers, and this trend is expected to continue growing in the coming years.
