Changi App Introduces New Feature That Rewards Travellers for Flight Delays

Changi Airport in Singapore continues to enhance the airport experience with new updates to its official mobile application. Many travellers may not realise that Changi has its own dedicated app designed to provide essential information, real time airport updates and a more seamless travel journey.

A New Phase of Smart Travel Services
The latest app upgrade introduces a trial version of FlightSaver Assurance. This feature focuses on real time flight monitoring for departures from Changi Airport and forms part of the wider Save Flight package. Changi App is also the first airport application worldwide to integrate real time data from international airports. Travellers can track flights from take-off to landing, check gate information, access baggage updates, monitor destination weather and receive alerts on schedule changes. The app also supports travel insurance purchases through ChangiAssure and offers additional travel related services.

Enhancing Airport Mobility
According to the Digital Ecosystem team at Changi, the upgrade aims to strengthen the overall airport journey by improving convenience and reducing disruptions caused by unexpected changes. These new functions underline Changi’s continued commitment to delivering a more intelligent and connected travel experience.

A Global First: Compensation for Delays
For the first time in the world, an airport is offering compensation for delayed flights through its own application. Travellers who join FlightSaver Assurance at least twelve hours before departure can receive a ten Singapore dollar Changi eVoucher if their flight is delayed by three hours or more. The voucher is added directly to the app, valid for thirty days and can be redeemed at participating transit points and retail outlets within the airport. Each traveller can receive this reward once per month.

Trial Phase and Future Plans
The FlightSaver Assurance programme is currently in a trial period until 30 September 2026. Changi Airport Group plans to refine the service throughout this phase with the intention of establishing it as a long term offering.
