Tien Giang: Tan Phuoc tourism - potential and advantages
Tan Phuoc district has proposed measures to unlock potential and benefits in order to build momentum for tourist development by 2025.
Potential and Advantages
Tan Phuoc is a district in the lowland of Dong Thap Muoi in Tien Giang province, about 25 kilometers northwest of My Tho city center, with several roads connecting to traffic axes connecting Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, and Dong Thap provinces. It is an area that still has a rich flora and fauna environment, with 107 hectares of primeval Melaleuca forest in the Dong Thap Muoi region and a 1,800-hectare buffer zone around it.
Tan Phuoc is also the only locality in Tien Giang province with a large area specializing in pineapple cultivation with more than 16,000 hectares, yielding about 260,000 tons/year. Taro is also a durable plant that has long been associated with the acid sulfate soil, also occupying a planting area of 512 hectares, yielding 7,031 tons/year. In addition, a number of other crops have gradually adapted and grown well on acid sulfate soil such as jackfruit, durian, dragon fruit, orange, lemon, guava... which is a trend for developing homestay tourism and community tourism models.
Truc Lam Chanh Giac Zen Monastery, located in Hamlet 1, Thanh Tan Commune with a scale of 30 hectares, following the model of the Truc Lam Yen Tu sect, including 25 completed items. This is one of the largest Zen monasteries in the country, highly appreciated for its potential and advantages in exploiting spiritual tourism. In addition, the Zen monastery also enriches the spiritual and cultural life of the people and Buddhists.
This is also an important highlight attracting tourists from all over to visit the pagoda, worship Buddha combined with visiting and learning about the traditional craft village of Bang Buong in Tan Hoa Thanh commune, watching the production process of pineapple candy and typical pineapple jam along the provincial roads in Tan Phuoc district to feel and love the simplicity of the people of the "flood center - alum center" from the early days of land reclamation until today.
