United Airlines Launches Daily Flights between Ho Chi Minh City and the United States
United Airlines has officially inaugurated its daily service connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the United States. With this new route, United becomes the only US carrier offering direct flights to and from Ho Chi Minh City, marking a significant expansion of its regional network.
The year-round service departs Ho Chi Minh City at 6:00 AM and arrives in Hong Kong at 9:35 AM, allowing smooth connections to San Francisco at 10:35 AM or Los Angeles at 11:25 AM. Travelers from Vietnam can conveniently transit in Hong Kong to reach both US West Coast gateways and continue onward to 75 destinations across the United States.
According to Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, the launch reflects the airline’s commitment to expanding routes that align with travelers’ growing demand for new international experiences.
United celebrated the inaugural flight with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by senior airline representatives, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper, and US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Melissa A. Brown.
The new service is operated by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, offering 257 seats across four cabins. The aircraft features 48 United Polaris business class suites with lie-flat seats and direct aisle access, 21 United Premium Plus seats, and 188 Economy seats including 39 Economy Plus seats with extra legroom.
Dreamliner enhancements such as larger windows, spacious overhead bins, LED lighting, lower cabin pressure, cleaner airflow, and a smoother ride help minimize fatigue on long-haul journeys.
United Polaris focuses on comfort with premium dining and amenities from Therabody and Saks Fifth Avenue. United Premium Plus offers wider seats and additional legroom, along with upgraded comfort items. Economy Plus provides extra legroom and forward cabin placement for quicker deplaning. All Economy passengers enjoy complimentary meals, beverages, and in-flight entertainment, with most seats equipped with adjustable headrests and on-demand screens.
This new daily route strengthens connectivity between Vietnam and the United States and offers travelers more flexibility, comfort, and convenience for long-haul travel.
