Khanh Hoa Tourism Achieves Impressive Growth

With an estimated growth rate of 16.1 percent in visitor numbers and 20.1 percent in revenue, Khanh Hoa’s tourism industry is on track to meet its 2025 targets. To reach the goal of 15.7 million visitors, the final months of the year will be a decisive period for the province’s tourism sector.

A Vibrant Tourism Scene
During the first ten months of 2025, Khanh Hoa has seen strong activity across the tourism, culture, and sports sectors. A range of high-profile events have attracted both domestic and international visitors, including the VnExpress Marathon Libera Nha Trang 2025 with over 13,000 participants and the Tiger Street Football and Music Festival.

Local businesses have expanded their offerings to create more diverse entertainment experiences for travelers. Notable highlights include VinWonders Nha Trang’s new performance “The Essence of Craftsmanship,” the DO Theatre’s debut of “Chum Show – The Kiss of Art,” and Nha Trang Xua Village’s production “Legendary Lights.” Travel agencies have also launched new cultural tours exploring Cham heritage and community-based tourism programs. Following recent regional integration, Khanh Hoa now has greater potential to develop products beyond its well-known island and beach attractions, expanding into cultural, community, and agricultural tourism.

Rising International Visitor Numbers
Along with product diversification, the province has strengthened its tourism promotion efforts. According to Ms. Cung Quynh Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Khanh Hoa has conducted successful tourism promotion activities in Russia, Australia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Singapore, and Italy this year. The province also actively participated in major domestic and international events such as the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival, the Vietnam International Travel Mart in Hanoi, and the Vietnam Culture and Tourism Festival in Japan.

“Thanks to stronger promotion and more diverse products, Khanh Hoa has welcomed more than 14.8 million visitors so far, up 16.1 percent from the same period in 2024. Total tourism revenue reached 60.3 trillion VND, an increase of 20.1 percent. The Russian market, one of Khanh Hoa’s key traditional sources of visitors, has grown by 267 percent. The fact that revenue growth outpaces visitor growth shows that tourism in Khanh Hoa is becoming more sustainable and value-driven,” said Ms. Cung Quynh Anh.

To promote sustainable tourism, the provincial government has introduced the Green Tourism Standards and partnered with Tuoi Tre Newspaper to host the seminar “Building Khanh Hoa as a Global Green Destination.” The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has also worked with VinUni to provide training on using the Green Tourism Standards Management System for over 100 businesses, including 4- and 5-star hotels and major attractions.

Strategies to Sustain Growth
Despite its achievements, the tourism sector still faces challenges. The international visitor base remains concentrated in a few traditional markets, while growth from Europe, the United States, and Australia is promising but unstable. The number of Chinese visitors has decreased by 16.3 percent compared with last year, and some destinations still lack adequate infrastructure and environmental management. Moreover, digital transformation and marketing collaboration across sectors are still limited.

To address these issues, the province will organize a series of activities in the last quarter of the year, including the sixth Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival, the “Colors of Vietnamese Ethnic Culture” photo exhibition, the My Hoa International Kiteboarding Championship, and a symposium on sustainable tourism development. The province will also welcome international fam trips to explore Khanh Hoa’s attractions.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Thang, Standing Vice Chairman of the Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, “In November 2025, Malaysian fam trip groups will arrive to survey tourism products in Khanh Hoa.”

At a meeting on October 27, Mr. Nguyen Long Bien, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized the importance of increasing visitor numbers to achieve the province’s overall 8 percent economic growth target. He directed the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to plan events and tourism stimulus programs for the upcoming Christmas and Lunar New Year holidays. The Center for Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion was tasked with expanding promotion in China, South Korea, Russia, and developing new markets in Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, India, and Japan.

The Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Association will continue designing promotional packages, building new programs, and strengthening partnerships with major travel agencies. Local authorities are encouraged to develop cultural and nightlife activities, diversify products that reflect regional identity, and enhance the province’s night-time economy. “To increase appeal and revenue, Khanh Hoa must strengthen its night-time economy. The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism should work closely with localities and businesses to implement effective models,” Mr. Bien suggested.

According to the Department’s report, in the first ten months of 2025, Khanh Hoa welcomed over 14.8 million visitors, a 16.1 percent increase year-on-year, achieving 94.3 percent of its annual target. Of these, international arrivals reached 4.6 million (up 17.6 percent), while domestic visitors totaled 10.2 million (up 15.4 percent). Tourism revenue is estimated at nearly 60.3 trillion VND, up 20.1 percent from the same period last year, completing 90.8 percent of the yearly plan. The province aims to welcome over 15.7 million visitors in 2025, generating about 69.35 trillion VND in total revenue.
