Enjoy the Serenity of Mang Den

If you are looking for a cool, peaceful destination that feels different from Da Lat and far less crowded, Mang Den is the perfect choice. Before my trip, many people warned me that it would be dull and quiet, but once I arrived, I found it calm, gentle, and unexpectedly endearing.

Mang Den is a small town in Kon Plong District, Kon Tum Province, about 100 km from Pleiku. You can either fly to Pleiku and rent a car or motorbike, or take an overnight bus from Ho Chi Minh City, departing in the evening and arriving in the morning. Getting around the town by motorbike is easy thanks to wide, smooth roads, with rental prices around 150,000 VND per day.

For accommodation, local homestays such as To Chim Ri are highly recommended. Nestled in a quiet village surrounded by rice fields and traditional communal houses, it offers a warm, rustic atmosphere with full amenities. Guests can enjoy BBQ gatherings, campfires, and relaxing views of nature right outside their rooms.

The local cuisine in Mang Den is simple yet flavorful. For breakfast, try A Kay’s snakehead fish noodle soup or Minh’s dry pho. For lunch, stop by Nguyen Sinh Grilled Chicken, and for dinner, head to Mang Do Restaurant for family-style dishes such as sturgeon hotpot and stir-fried forest vegetables. For coffee lovers, Le Plateau Coffee and Café de Mang Den are ideal spots to sip a warm drink under pine trees while overlooking Dak Ke Lake.

Top attractions include Our Lady of Mang Den Church, Khanh Lam Pagoda, Dak Ke Lake, Pa Sy Waterfall, the 37-house area, and Kon Tu Rang Suspension Bridge. When the mist rolls in, the town becomes even more magical and peaceful.

Mang Den is quiet, green, and refreshingly slow-paced. It’s a place to wander, to rest, to heal, and to find a moment of calm away from the city rush. Everything here feels “just enough” - enough charm to stay, enough peace to remember. If you ever have the chance, visit Mang Den at least once.
