Since being featured on the American television network ABC News, this colossal cave has captured global attention, contributing significantly to the province’s tourism growth and positioning Vietnam as a world-class adventure destination.

In the most recent reporting period, Quang Binh recorded tourism revenue of VND179 billion (approximately USD 8.1 million), marking an impressive increase of nearly 90 percent compared with 2014. The surge is largely attributed to the international exposure of Son Doong Cave, which has drawn thousands of visitors eager to witness its breathtaking underground landscapes.

Discovered in 2009, Son Doong is recognized as the largest natural cave in the world, featuring colossal chambers, towering stalagmites, and even its own jungle and river. Its scale and mystery have made it a symbol of Vietnam’s untamed natural beauty. The demand for Son Doong tours remains exceptionally high, with trips fully booked throughout 2016, reflecting its growing global allure.

In total, Quang Binh welcomed 2.86 million visitors last year, an increase of 3.9 percent, including nearly 47,000 international travelers - a growth of 8.9 percent. Revenue from restaurants and hotels also reached VND1.9 trillion (about USD 86 million), up 19 percent from the previous year.
