Da Nang: Make the beach greener.
Da Nang is known to domestic and foreign tourists not only for its long beaches and fine white sand but also for its cool green coconut groves. With the desire to create beautiful landscapes for the beaches as well as add green to the coastal roads, contributing to improving urban aesthetics and developing sea tourism services, the City People's Committee has issued a plan to plant coconut trees on the beaches in the area.
The plan is proposed with the desire to maintain and promote the effectiveness of the "Tet tree planting" movement in agencies, organizations, individuals, unions, and enterprises in the city; along with the goal of calling for support to plant nearly 3,500 coconut trees at four locations, including: Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap beach (Son Tra district), expected to plant 1,200 trees; Truong Sa beach (Ngu Hanh Son district), expected to plant nearly 150 trees; Nguyen Tat Thanh. The period to organize sponsorship is divided into two phases: phase 1 from October to November 2024 and phase 2 from January to March 2025. The coconut planting season is likewise divided into two phases: phase 1 from December 2024 to the end of the first quarter of 2025, and phase 2 from April to the end of the third quarter of 2025.
To properly implement the planned plan, the City People's Committee designated the Department of Tourism as the focus agency for advising the committee on the plan to plant coconut palms on the city's beaches. The Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches (Department of Tourism) is in charge of managing the plan's implementation as well as the transfer and receiving of coconut trees from the sponsor.
The job of safeguarding and maintaining trees to enable proper growth and development at select beaches has been prioritized, contributing to the creation of a green landscape for Da Nang's sea. The City People's Committee issued a plan to plant coconut trees with the goal of continuing to plant new trees and build more greenery on the city's beaches, gradually building and protecting the coastal landscape to be more unique, contributing to erosion prevention, and limiting the impact of climate change is critical.
The city is implementing this plan to contribute to the implementation of Prime Minister's Decision No. 524/QD-TTg dated April 1, 2021, approving the project "Planting one billion trees in the period 2021-2025" and the City People's Committee's plan to implement the project in the city.
