A Series of events for Tourism Week - Mekong Connect in 2024

On September 18, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DCT) of Can Tho City coordinated with the Department of Tourism and the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City to organize a meeting to collect opinions on the development of a series of events for the Mekong Connect Tourism Week in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta in Can Tho City in 2024 (Tourism Week - Mekong Connect). Leaders of the Departments of Tourism, Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Industry and Trade of 14 provinces and cities attended in person and online.

Mekong Connect Tourism Week is a series of events directed by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Can Tho City, on a regional scale; aiming to promote tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces. Thereby creating opportunities for investment connection, cooperation, development of typical products, attracting domestic and international tourists. At the same time, expanding the scale and improving the quality of local cultural and tourism events, improving the operational efficiency of the Ho Chi Minh City-13 Mekong Delta provinces and cities, contributing to spreading and promoting effective and sustainable regional tourism development. The series of events is also an opportunity to introduce and promote typical tourism products of localities, especially river tourism routes from Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces.

Accordingly, the Mekong Connect Tourism Week with the theme "Quintessence of the River Region" is expected to take place from November 28 to December 2, 2024. The event series has 10 activities, including the following highlights: Opening ceremony; survey of river tourism in Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces; survey of investment promotion projects in trade and tourism in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces; seminar to assess the potential for attracting trade and tourism investment and developing river tourism in Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces; Mekong Connect Forum 2024; conference to promote investment in trade and tourism in 14 provinces and cities; announcement of the Program to vote for attractive tourist destinations in Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta with the theme "Elevating destinations - Connecting journeys". There are also many activities, such as: exhibition space, introducing typical products of localities; art exchange program between 14 provinces and cities; welcoming activities: river cruise parade, motorcycle parade, Cai Rang Floating Market Cultural Tourism Festival 2024…

At the meeting, delegates agreed on the plan to organize the series of events, and at the same time recommended that Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City, the two host units, quickly issue a plan so that localities have a basis for coordination in preparation, in order to help the series of events take place effectively.
