Cruising the Mekong with Viking Tonle

Viking, the world’s largest river cruise line, has introduced its newest vessel—the Viking Tonle—exclusively designed for voyages along the Mekong River. This marks the company’s second ship on the Mekong, following the successful launch of Viking Saigon in 2022.

In Khmer, Tonle means “freshwater,” a fitting name for a ship inspired by the vibrant culture and history of Vietnam and Cambodia. Its signature itinerary, “Magnificent Mekong,” spans 15 days and 14 nights, featuring seven nights on the river. Guests will discover silk-weaving villages, floating markets, fishing communities, and the iconic Angkor Wat, while also visiting major cities such as Hanoi, Siem Reap, and Ho Chi Minh City.

With a capacity of 80 guests across 40 staterooms, Viking Tonle carries the brand’s hallmark Scandinavian design—light-filled spaces, floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, French balconies, and river-facing views in every room. Guests can choose from three categories, including 12 Veranda Suites and two spacious Explorer Suites designed as private apartments with separate living and sleeping areas.

Onboard amenities include a restaurant, 24-hour bar, lounge, boutique, library, fitness center, spa, and an outdoor pool. Culinary experiences take center stage, with chefs curating diverse menus enhanced by a rooftop herb garden and a curated wine list highlighting regional selections.

Viking Tonle’s inaugural sailing departs October 27, 2025, from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap, with fares starting at USD 9,500. The launch further solidifies the Mekong as one of the world’s most captivating river cruise destinations.
